How this statement is structured
The tested transaction can span two or three lines: date and type, description, then amount and balance. The parser carries the row context until both booked movement and running balance are available.
Statement controls recognized
- Beginning Balance
- Deposits and other credits
- Withdrawals and other debits
- Fees
- Ending Balance
What the spreadsheet can contain
- Multiline descriptions
- Signed movements
- Negative balances when present
- Separate fees and summary figures
Validation performed before confidence
- Running-balance direction has priority over ambiguous description wording
- Fees remain visible and are also included in total debits
- The summary equation and final running balance are compared with Ending Balance
Opening balance + credits − debits = ending balance
What you must review
- A description containing Debit can still accompany a positive movement
- Negative signs must remain attached to their values
- Varo Savings and future templates may differ
