How this statement is structured

The tested summary does not necessarily use the words opening or closing. It combines Money In, Money Out and two dated Balance on controls, which must be ordered against the statement period.

Statement controls recognized

  • Money In
  • Money Out
  • Earliest Balance on date
  • Latest Balance on date

What the spreadsheet can contain

  • Transaction activity
  • Money-in and money-out values
  • Dated opening and closing controls
  • GBP currency

Validation performed before confidence

  • The earliest and latest distinct dated controls are mapped to opening and closing
  • Opening plus Money In minus Money Out is compared with closing
  • The last transaction balance is checked against the dated closing control

Opening balance + credits − debits = ending balance

What you must review

  • A single Balance on value is insufficient to infer both period controls
  • Harmless separators can split the date, pound symbol and amount
  • Business and credit-card statements may use different structures

Convert the statement

  1. Download the original PDF directly from your bank or provider.
  2. Open the converter and select the PDF. Statement contents are processed locally in your browser.
  3. Confirm the detected currency, transaction count, balances and warnings.
  4. Compare every row with the source before downloading Excel or CSV.
